Beyond The Basics: Encaustic + Mixed Media
Beyond The Basics introduces a range of mixed media compatible for working with encaustic including ink, Pan Pastel, stencils, graphite, charcoal, pencil, artificial metallic leaf, and collage. With a focus on different types of fusing, this workshop will help students learn to create smooth, even surfaces for drawing and transferring and thin layers of encaustic to avoid cloudiness. Encaustic is such a versatile medium. Dietlind will present a variety of ways to work with it highlighting best practices.
Creating Optical Depth
It's time to take what you've learned and apply it. In this mini session, Dietlind will demonstrate how to stack and layer imagery to create a small painting. Working from the ground up, Dietlind will address the substrate, working between layers, and the finished surface to make a painting that has optical depth.
